Lynne,
Please add this to the collection of thoughts/words for the Steinert family.

I had an opportunity to meet Dwight when I was filling in for a colleague on the State AEP Board. Although Dwight’s time as president had already passed, he came back to the board meeting to lead a visioning/collaboration session to get all the board members on the same page and to identify goals for the coming year. I was impressed with his ability to wrangle a bunch of folks with divergent ideas in a non-threatening manner. His long-standing commitment to the AEP and all that he did to raise the credibility of our organizations both inside and outside the environmental professionals community, is to be commended. Sincerely, Sophia Habl Mitchell

Subject: Passing of Dwight Steinert
I cannot think of AEP without thinking of Dwight. He has been one of those constants in life upon which we come to depend... upon which I came to depend. As far as I can remember, Dwight has always been a part of AEP. He has contributed his steadfast leadership, extensive knowledge and unique sense of humor, and we are very grateful for everything he has done. My earliest memory of Dwight was at a State Board meeting, when I first joined AEP. I wanted to see what the organization was all about. I don't believe that Dwight was on the Board at the time, but he was attending the meeting, perched on a counter against the wall, drinking a beer and contributing comments and humor from the sidelines. He made what I thought would be a very boring meeting fun. Through the years, Dwight continued to make AEP a fun place to be, while enhancing the organization through his leadership.
I am deeply sorry to hear of his passing, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to Dwight's family. I am truly sorry for your loss.

I too am very saddened with this news. We all have our path in this life. Dwight gave much to us all from his soul. He was committed to the profession and continued to give to us all so much for a very long time. He was one of my inspirations actually when I first joined the AEP Board. I will personally miss him very much. I know the Board will support your AEP Lifetime Achievement Award for him. He most certainly deserves it!
Sincere regards,

This is sad to hear. I had the honor and pleasure to work with Dwight on the LA Chapter Board during the early 90’s. Dwight was a hard worker and you could always count on him to get involved and carry it through to the finish. We lose a great environmental professional and person.

Subject: Thought related to Dwight
Hello Lynne - I do have a thought I would like to add. In 1991, I was unexpectly laid off from my job as a young Environmental Planner. I called Dwight, who was the President at the time, and told him that I had to choose between paying my Visa bill or paying my AEP dues. As a young 20-something, this was something I was worried about. He assured me that AEP would wait for my dues for when I had it ready, and that I should pay by Visa bill instead. He also told me that this was the most important time for me to keep my contacts in the field by continuing participation in AEP. I followed his advice and found a new job after a a few months. I eventually became the President of my Chapter and later of another Chapter after I'd moved. AEP has provided me all of the contacts I needed for all of the jobs I've ever gotten and Dwight did offer me, as a young professional, wise advice, that I am glad I heeded. I told him about this much later when we were attending a meeting together and he said he actually remembered this occurring. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

Subject: thoughts about Dwight Steinert
Hello Lynne: Below are my thoughts about Dwight Steinert that I would like to share.
As an environmental professional and long-time member of AEP, I will always be grateful to Dwight Steinert for his most admirable dedication to our professional organization. It is because of the hard work of Dwight and others like him that AEP exists for all of us to enjoy and benefit from. He and Brian Smith provided mentorship and a welcoming presence when I became a member of the State Board, and provided the guidance and encouragement our chapter (Channel Counties) needed to host our first state conference. In my mental dictionary, when I look up environmental professional, I see Dwight.

Hello - My condolences on Dwight Steinert's passing. Very sad.
I've been an AEP member for some time, but did not receive this. It was sent to me by a colleague. Can you please add me to the mailing list or let me know why I am not on it?
Thank you,
Pat
