ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY EXPANSION BUILDING

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, RIVERSIDE -  RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA

The University of California, Riverside Office of Design & Construction invites responses to provide environmental consulting services for the above Project.  Services include, without limitation, preparation of environmental analyses, CEQA and supporting documents tiered from the UCR Long Range Development Plan program EIR certified in November 2005.  Due to the location of the Project, it is anticipated that an EIR may be required.

The proposed Project involves construction of a new single-story Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Expansion Building (UCR Project No. 958001) to relocate the campus EH&S functions.  The approximately 30,100 Gross Square Feet (GSF) Building would provide space for office/administrative functions, training, laboratory and material handling.  In addition, an outside secure yard area will house specialized storage.  The exterior of the building will be finished primarily in concrete block, stucco, brick and glazing, with a flat roof, compatible with existing campus buildings.  The project will also include associated landscape and utility extensions.  Included as part of this CEQA analysis will be associated improvements and relocations to the adjacent corporation yard area.  The site is located north of Linden Street, south of Watkins Drive, west of Valencia Hill Drive, and east of the UCR corporation yard and Transportation and Parking Services building on the northeast portion of the UCR campus.

City of Malibu Biological Review Services

 

The City of Malibu is requesting written proposals for Principal Biologist and Assistant Biologist to provide biological consulting services to the Planning Division and act as technical advisors on issues relating to terrestrial biology. The contract shall be for a minimum of two years.

 

SCOPE OF WORK

 

The Principal Biologist and Assistant Biologist work under the direction of the Planning Manager, providing technical expertise and recommendations with respect to applications for construction projects in the City of Malibu.  The team also provides technical assistance with environmental documentation and review with respect to Negative Declarations, Mitigated Negative Declarations, and Environmental Impact Reports. The Principal Biologist also assists the Planning Manager with the Environmental Review Board, a technical advisory committee.  In addition, the Principal Biologist attends Planning Commission and City Council meetings on an as-needed basis. The City shall provide one work space on public counter days. The Principal and/or Assistant Biologist hold routine public counter hours at City Hall. The City currently provides Biologist Public Counter hours on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for a minimum of 8 hours/week. In summary, in a 12 month period:

 

·         sixty-five (65) hours per month is dedicated to General Biological Services staff hours duties including counter time, project review, site visits, daytime meetings, and miscellaneous duties; and

 

·         ten (10) hours per month is dedicated to evening meeting hours including Planning Commission and City Council.
