ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT SERVICES
University of California, Santa Cruz
The University of California, Santa Cruz (UC Santa Cruz), is selecting an environmental consultant to provide professional services for the Kresge College Project (the Project) at the UCSC main campus. The selected consultant team will prepare a project-level environmental impact report (EIR) and assist in the environmental review leading to approval of the Kresge College Project. The selected firm will provide: technical studies and analyses; draft and final EIRs; a mitigation monitoring and reporting plan; participation in public meetings; and agency coordination. The EIR will be tiered from the UC Santa Cruz 2005 Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) EIR.
The sixth of ten residential colleges on the UC Santa Cruz campus, Kresge College was constructed in 1973. The 23 existing buildings accommodate a total of approximately 95,000 assignable square feet (asf). These buildings house student and staff housing, classrooms, academic and administrative offices, a library, student services, assembly space, and a café. The proposed Kresge College Project consists of selective demolition, renovation and new construction of student housing, student services and academic facilities. The project would construct a new 24,000 assignable-square-foot (asf) academic building, and two new residential buildings with approximately 400 beds for first-year students, and a new multi-purpose student space. The project would also renovate existing buildings to provide approximately 150 beds for continuing students and to improve the student services capacity, and construct a new multi-purpose “town hall.” Major infrastructure improvements include redevelopment of an existing 400-foot-long pedestrian bridge across one of the campus’ ravines, repair and replacement of utilities, and renovation of the primary pedestrian circulation spine to achieve accessibility.
The Campus plans to circulate the Draft EIR for public review in summer 2018, with design approval by the UC Regents anticipated in November 2018.
Interested teams will be required to submit a Statement of Qualifications and a brochure demonstrating related project experience, using standard forms as provided by the University. Previous experience in the development of environmental impact reports, particularly in a college or university environment, must be demonstrated in the submittal for this project.
The campus anticipates the complete RFQ package will be available to download at the UC Santa Cruz Online Plan Room, http://www.ucscplanroom.com/ on Tuesday October 31, 2017 until the due date.
